In Waterloo Region, there is a Transition to School Protocol for Children with Complex Needs, which is followed by the Special Needs Resourcing agencies and other community agencies that may be assisting families transitioning children with complex needs into school.
Partners in creating and administering this protocol include KidsAbility, KidsAbility Autism Services, KidsAbility School Authority, KW Habilitation Early Learning Child Care & Family Resources, Strong Start, Waterloo Catholic District School Board, Waterloo Region District School Board, and Home and Community Care Support Services – Waterloo Wellington.
Referrals may come from other community agencies and the Protocol for Children with Complex Needs includes referrals to the French school boards and the Private schools located in Waterloo Region as well as WCDSB and WRDSB. As a potential referral source, you would have received documents to guide you through this process from the Transition to School Committee.
